Hello fellow classmates, I am not sure that Classmates knows who I am…..and perhaps I don’t either.. After graduation I went with La Sierra Abroad to the SDA college in Darmstadt, Germany. I should have done a better info search on my Star Trek Tri-Quarter about this school. To my chagrin I found out that this school was for seminary students only…no liberal arts program whatsoever, and at that time I still wanted to do classical piano. That was a year wasted…sort of. Roberta Gibson who was a classmate of ours up through our sophomore year went to Germany with me. We were in love (as much as an 18 year old knows about being in love), and we’re duo piano performers.. a As in Germany we had no piano instruction, nor any other class except German history,, German authors of the Middle Ages, and of course theology. That’s it…. We were required to be inside our LOCKED dorms by 7 PM., every night. We could go to and from town ( Darmstadt) during the daytime, usually as we pleased., but we were ever so closely watched as to our comings and goings. There is much, much more to this story, but it is ancient history now. I attended Cal-Arts, and studie piano with Johana Harris, who’s husband was a cameo famous American composer. She as outstanding as a teacher and concert pianist who once played duo piano concert with Rachmaninov. I digress here…. I am trying to remember to keep this short. I’m not writing a biography of 500 pages, but maybe I one day, if the Good Lord gives me more time…and better eyesight…..perhaps. I did continue my education, but not at Ca Arts.
