Charles's Story
Life
I got married in 1987 at St. Ronald's Church in Clinton Twp. to a gal I met from Romeo. We resided in Richmond and Romeo prior to moving up north near Traverse City in 1990 after I had graduated from Wayne State University School of Mortuary Science in Detroit. I have two children Zachary Charles who was born in 1995, and Alexis Ann who was born in 1999. I was divorced in 2004 and I still reside near Traverse City, Michigan. I am self-employed providing professional funeral services to area funeral homes. My home sits on 22 acres and has amongst it inhabitants animals such as: black bear, deer, turkey, raccoon, bobcat, coyote, grouse, owls, bald eagle, and numerous songbirds. I enjoy hunting in my spare time and most recently took up the hobby of taxidermy.
School
When I think back to the school days at Richards Junior High School and Fraser High School several things come to mind. Friday night skating at Shores Skateland, playing in a band with fellow classmates, Steve Smith, Mike Kowalik, and Mike McPeak, pitching for the baseball team and playing on the football team. Continously debating my best friend Mark Romano on which band was cooler, my choice KISS or his Queen. The girls I had dated: Dawn Sandula, Laura Vultaggio, Shelley Langmesser, and Lorraine Kabatoff. And the gal I almost dated Madonna Abke who declined to date me after she found out I collected baseball cards HA HA! Madonna, those cards are worth a fortune now hun!! It's also quite amazing that the rock and roll we grew up with is what the kids of today are listening to! I don't ever remember in the least bit wanting to listen to what my parents had listened to!!

College
I attended Macomb Community College with an Associated Degree then transferred to Wayne State University School of Mortuary Science where I graduated in 1990 as a Funeral Director and Embalmer. In the spring of 2005 I enrolled in Baker College in Cadillac, Michigan and I am in the process of pursuing a secondary career as a Surgical Technician.
Workplace
I have worked for several funeral homes while I was in the Detroit area. I began my funeral service career at the S.K. Schultz Funeral Home in East Detroit. I then was hired to serve my apprenticeship with Fraser's hometown funeral home Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home where the owner Jim Walsh sponsored my apprenticeship and taught me 99.99 % of what I needed to know to be a caring and compassionate funeral director. I had also worked for the Diener Funeral Home in Utica and the Hensch Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Richmond, prior to moving up north. I moved up north to manage the Bennett-Jonkhoff funeral home in Beulah, Michigan located in Benzie County which was owned by a Traverse City funeral home. After a few years of managing the Beulah funeral home I went to work for the McElduff Funeral Home in Frankfort, Michigan until the year 2000 when I went into business for myself. I currently provide professional funeral services such as embalming, conducting funeral services and vacation coverage to several funeral homes up north.
Military
I never was enlisted in the military but I must state I have the utmost respect for those who do and wholeheartedly give my thanks to them and their families for their sacrifices and keeping our country free. God Bless America.
