Cindi's Story
I moved from Fort Lee to Closter at the end of 3rd grade. I stayed there until junior year of high school, when I moved back to Fort Lee. Upon graduating from FLHS, I moved to New Orleans for college. After graduating from Tulane, I stayed in New Orleans. I lived in New Orleans until December 1998, when I followed the guy I was dating to Lafayette, La. The relationship didn't last. I hated Lafayette, but was committed to making it work. I enrolled in nursing school. Due to health issues, I was unable to continue in the BSN program. After 6 months, I enrolled in an LPN program, from which I graduated 1st in my class. met a fabulous man, who is now my husband. He was born & raised in Lafayette, LA - had never lived anywhere else. We were supposed to have gotten married In New Orleans, but Hurricane Katrina took care of that. It also didn't help that our caterer ran away with our deposit. So we got married at City Hall in NYC. We have been married for almost 3 years now. After going through both Hurricane Katrina & Rita, we moved. For me, it was coming back to an area I am very familiar with - the beautiful Berkshires! We rented a house for a year to get acclimated & to decide if this is where we wanted to stay. In September, we purchased a home. My husband loves it up here - he is an avid cyclist, spped skater, snowshoer, and x-country skier. Not bad for someone who had never lived in the cold & snow before!
