Cindy Brown's Story
Home-Life
My husband, Joe, and I have been married for 28+ years and life just keeps getting better at every age! After 8 years of marriage, the Lord blessed us with our first son, Robbie. Twenty-two months later the Lord blessed us again with our second son, Austin.
Joe participated in the adult men's church softball league, for which his team has won 3 of 4 tournament wins over four years. The Lord knew what He was doing when he gave us our boys, because we love watching them play team sports. I truly didn't know anything about sports until I married Joe!
Our young men are now 18 & 20 years old. They enjoy working, sports, music and our pets. Before graduating Robbie played three sports: soccer, basketball, and baseball. Austin played in three sports: soccer, hockey, and basketball. He also participated in track and field. His events were the long jump, triple jump, and high jump. Between the two if them we have a collection of tournament championships in basketball, baseball, and hockey.
We have two dogs. "Choco" is a miniature Australian Shepherd (7 years old). "Smokey" is Beagle mix, a rescue that we adopted from T.A.R.A. in October of 2015 for Joe's birthday. She is Joe's dog that he fell in love with as soon as he saw her because she looked like the TN Vols Mascot.
My husband grew up with cats. It seems fitting that we have three indoor cats. Two are miniature cats that weigh only 8 pounds. The eldest was given to use by a farmer who had a litter. The middle one was only 3 months old when we bought her. Her previous owners could no ...Expand for more
longer afford to take care of her. The youngest was a ferral kitten that out eldest son rescued, by catching it with a fishing net. She was in the wild, only 6-8 weeks old, with no siblings or mom. Had been hanging around a strip mall for a while and strangers were feeding her and trying to catch her but with no luck. She is now the tamest one of the three and is twice the size of the other two.
Work Life
We married in July of 1987. His job relocated us to Cary, NC near the end of my 4th year teaching. Once in NC, I began working for Glaxo Research Institute. The company name has changed several times over the years due to mergers: Glaxo Inc., Glaxo Wellcome, and GlaxoSmithKline. Worked there for 26 years and retired from there in 2015. Over the years, I held positions in Research, Field Sales, and Marketing including Interactive Media and Speaker Events. The Lord has blessed me in meeting people from all over the world, traveling, presenting, and being involved in some exciting projects and events.
I have worked for some amazing Global, US, and Regional Vice Presidents whose sole goal is to improve the quality of life for people with health issues. I feel very blessed and fortunate that the Lord sent us to NC and allowed me to work at GSK, which has provided a great retirement for our future.
Currently, I work for Puryear Tank Lines, which has four truck line companies. I support one of them (PTC) as a Payroll & Billing Coordinator and report to the Chief Executive Officer. Love the job and the people I work with, they are like my extended family.
