Cindy's Story
After High school I attended ISU and graduated with a BA in secondary education. I taught junior high and high school for a few years. I have two children my son, Jonathan, is 35,and my daughter, Kathryn, is 30. I have one grandson, Sam who 5 he will be starting Kindergarten this fall but is very advanced for his age and is reading fluently as well as doing math. My husband James and I have been married for 40 years. He has a doctorate in pharmacey and was a commissioned officer for the Public Health Service working for the Indian Health branch as the chief pharmacist for the Spokane Tibe of Indians until he retired July 1 of 2012. In my 30's I decided I wanted a different career and got accepted into law school. I graduated from the U of I in 1992 with a Juris Doctor degree in Law. Since then I have worked in many areas doing family law ( which I hated), legal services, criminal prosecution, criminal defense ( which I loved) and appeals. Currently I have three contracts with the state of Washington to work in prisons assisting inmates with their legal issues including parole hearings, immigration hearings, civil rights complaints, and habeaus petitions. eviously worked for I now supervised 16 people it is a big job.i serve as an appellate Judge for the Nez Perce, Quinault, Kalispel and Spokane Tribes. It keeps me busy. When I am not working at one of these jobs I serve on the Washington State Gender and Justice Commission Domestic Violence work group and the Washington State Board of Directors for the ACLU of Washington. I love the practice of law and I especially loved doing jury trials. I spend most of my spare time with my family especially my grandson. I would love to hear from old friends and class mates. My husband and I like to travel and in August 09 went to China 15 days. It was amazing we were in Beijing where we saw Tianamen square, the forbidden city, the summer palace, the great wall and other sites. We then went to Xian where we saw the terra cotta warriors, then to Chung Ching where we boarded a boat to cruise the Yangze river, then to Shanghai and Hong Kong. It was a wonderful trip and we hope to do more traveling in the next few years. In October 10 we did an Danube River cruise we visited Prague, Passeau, Mielke, Bratislavia, Vienna, Salzburg, and Budapest. It was beautiful and we want to go back and spend more time in a few of the cities. We went to Costa Rica in May 2013 and leave for Hawaii tomorrow can't wait to get on that plane I need a vacation.
