Cindy's Story
Life
I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1985. My boyfriend Chris Christen and I followed the Grateful Dead in our 1967 VW micro bus from Kansas City to Oakland CA and we stayed. After our relationship ended I stayed here and met my husband John while working in Marin County. Our first date in San Francisco was magical, we had a blast. I received my Associates degree from College of Marin in Kentfield (famous alumni include comic Robin Williams). We lived in Larkspur for 5 years before moving to So. Cal, Palm Springs.
We moved from Palm Springs to Costa Mesa in the fall of 2003 where we both continued our education. I received my paralegal certification there. In May 06 we left Orange County for the greater Sacramento region. Although the weather was perfect in the OC,and I miss awesome coastline and its many beaches and some great friends, we couldn't afford the high home prices and bought our first home in West Sacramento. We love the great outdoors and now were just one hour from Lake Tahoe, and our old stoppping grounds San Francisco.
My fiance John became my husband on June 2, 2006. I received my BA in Communications at Cal State Sacramento, December of 2007, yeah I'm a late bloomer, always was.. I have to say that at this point we miss the OC alot and plan to move back to So. Cal eventually.
Our two himalayan cats, Toby and Jed are my furry kids. I enjoy traveling, writing, photography and I am active lobbyist for environmental causes as well as wildlife protection. I currently lobby with Defenders of Wildlife. I love a good bottle of pinot noir and asian style foods. Life is good!!!
School
Biggest crush? Steve Abbott when I was in junior high. Funny huh? I was infatuated with mostly with older guys who graduated a couple of years...Expand for more
ahead of us.
I do not recall an especially outstanding teacher, I wish there had been one. I remember having some unusual days detaslling corn.
Throughout highschool & beyond, a had a large group of friends attending Pekin HS, all class of 84. I began grade school there before moving to Manito, and had alot of friends, it was emotionally hard to start over in Manito in 1974.
Two of my greatest high school loves were 84 Pekin grads, Chris Christen and Bodie Kyle. Steve Sheridan, a friend I made thru Chris remains one of my best and longest friendships.
The first person to befriend me in grade school in Manito was Kathy Wooding, she was my playmate and best friend for years. We must have spent every day at the Manito Pool all summer long. I definately had alot of fun at that pool! I still can here "Hot Blooded" and "Emotional Rescue" blaring from the speakers.
The person who was kindest to me at Forman High had to be Tom Brown, he was compassionate and genuine, he took me to my first prom. My best girlfriend in high school was definately Jeannette Grayson, she was both silly & spontaneous!! Alot of laughs shared with her! & we are still great friends!
Workplace
Well, I've had a variety of jobs througout the years. People born in 1966 are horse year people and tend to wander to greener pastures regularly. My current position as project manager for the Dairy Institute, a non-profit supporting dairy farmers& processors, is wonderful. I manage our website. Eventually, I'd like to be my own boss, I have a couple of ideas & hope to work out of my home for the most part in the next couple of years. I am currently working on my new website, cyndicated dot com (still in progress)
