Ciro Anthony's Story
Life
I've lived in several states, and done a few different things. My life thus far has been a strange, and wild ride, and the journey continues. I'm not a philosopher but I guess that life with all of its challenges; disappointments; the people who touch us; and the adventures we have, makes us who we are. Even if I could, I wouldn't change a thing (well maybe one or two)! One thing that I do know is that the better part of who I am is a gift from all the dear friends I've been so fortunate to have had as traveling companions. I hope that they remember me in the same way.
Military
I've been an Auxiliarist Staff Officer (FSO-OPS, FSO-CC) (O-1 Rating equivalent) with the U.S.C.G.A. since 1998, and served as Operations Officer as well as Career Counselor-Recruiter. I am in process of getting involved in the Coast Guard's new initiative to augment health care services, and hope to volunteer my services at the Academy in New London.
Education
After earning my bachelor's degree from St. Joseph's College (Long Island, New York) I went on to complete two master's degrees while still living in New York. School became a kind of addiction for me; (I still feel strange when the autumn rolls around and I'm not on line at some Registrar's Office)! In '97 I completed the requirements for my doctorate in psychology and have continued my work in the field of mental health care since. Even so, I still consider myself to be a musician...I just took the advice of some friends and didn't leave my "day job". Actually, my working in the fields of Psychology and the human services is still a bit of a surprise to me. Even though I studi...Expand for more
ed psychology, sociology, and the allied health professions in college...my first love was always music. But, helping people was something that I also found gratifying.....so maybe it isn't such a stretch after all.
The Teacher I'd Love to See Again.
There were two actually. The first passed away the year after I graduated from Brentwood High. Mr. Frank Nastasi was my seventh grade science teacher, and truly one of the most remarkable people I have met in my life. He was brilliant, kind, and knew how to speak the language of his students. He was a mentor in the greatest sense of the word. His classes were an opportunity for adventure; and his leadership as the head of the audio-visual department are the things of which legends are made....(amazing how he survived all the stuff we blew up, short circuited, and dropped down the stair wells). All said and done; Mr. Nastasi...you are still remembered, and will always be missed.
The second teacher I would like to see again is....Mr. Peter Brasch. He was a music teacher and the Director of both South Junior High and Brentwood High School Bands that I had the privilege to play in. Mr. Brasch was a great guy, and a good musician. His passion for music was contagious, and though I caught the music bug way before meeting him....his enthusiasm stoked my own passion for music all the more.
Pets
I currently own a white Scotty Dog, with huge pointy ears. His name...."Spock", of course! He's a great friend; a big dog in a little body, but don't tell him that! You can't convince me that dogs don't have a soul. I've also been looking at Wolf-Hybrids and would love to get one.
