Life
Here I am, the first member of the Class of '79 to sign in! Who else is out there?
I spent nearly 20 years on the radio, then "retired" to do marketing for a couple of companies that make equipment for radio stations. My wife Terry and I have been married over 20 years, and my son Reed is 13.
College
Ah, the days of KSM-99 in the old TC building at Palomar! My first taste of radio. A tiny little studio complex with two production rooms, one studio and a news booth... Russco turntables, McMartin consoles (if you could even call those things "consoles"), and big Ampex 351 decks that would take your finger off on the rewind sequence if you weren't careful. ign on the ceiling hatch that said "Brett's Office - Please Knack". Steve Johnston trying to run a professional station hard as he could, Sheri Inglis looking pretty and honing her news chops, and of course Russ Jackson going insane keeping us all in line. Learning to slip-cue 45's... Editing quarter-inch tape with rusty razor blades... faking news stories on the UPI wire... Seeing how many times you could "accidentally" play Tim Curry's "Sloe Gin" before Russ came in with steam blowing out his ears :)
Workplace
I miss being on the radio, but I work for a fantastic company and am now Marketing Director for my division, Axia Audio. God has truly blessed me, and I couldn't work for or with better people. God is good!
