Clayton's Story
Life: After graduation I continued to work for Lytton's Office Supply until April of 1960. Married Carol Genter in November of 59. Having joined the Naval Reserve in April of 1958 I when went on active duty with the U.S. Navy in 1960. Electronics school at Treasure Island, San Francisco CA. Stationed Naval Amphibious Base Coronado CA, 12-60 thru 6-63, Beach Jumper Unit. White Sands Missile Facility White Sands New Mexico 7-63 thru 12-63. Cecil Field Naval Air Station Jacksonville FL, 1-64 thru 6-65. Returned to Beach Jumper Unit Teams 11, 12, 13 and straight to Viet Nam. Discharged end of Oct 67. Ryan Aeronautical Co. San Diego CA and Pt Mugu Oxnard CA Oct 67 thru Nov 69. 3M Audio Division Camarillo CA 12-69 thru 9-70. Bowmar Inc Thousands Oaks CA developing Microwave ovens for commercial, home , U.S. Military Mash Unit and Lockeed's L-1011 airline use. 11-70 thru 10-76. Bechtel Inc Jan 77 thru Jan 2004. Start-up Engineer. Arun, Indonesia, oil, gas field, 15 mo, Cholla coal-fired power plant, Joseph City AZ 2.5 yrs, Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant, 4.5 yrs, Nuclear Power Plant, Hancocks Bridge NJ 10 mo, Rancho Seco Nuclear Power Plant, Lodi, CA 2 yrs, Limerick Nuclear Power Plant, Pottstown PA, Peachbottom Nuclear Power Plant restart, Lancaster PA 2.5 yrs. From there I spent 2 months at Rumford Maine on a paper mill plant. 7.5 yrs in Tri-Cities Washington at WPPS Nuclear Plant (5) and Hanford Nuclear Bomb development site restoration project (2.5). We moved back to the house in Show Low AZ at the end of June '97. In Aug. the company sent me to the office in Gaithersburg MD for a month then to Kitimat British Columbia, Canada on a Alcan Aluminum job liquid pitch installation project till mid Jan 98. In March I left for Cali Colombia S.A. for a Co-generation Power Plant and in Aug volunteered for a month job at an Iron Reduction Plant in Trinadad an...Expand for more
Tabago. Left there at the end of May '99 and by mid August we were headed for Putian City, Fujain Province, Peoples Republic of China for a 2 year 2 unit coal-fired power plant project. Returned to the U.S. in July 2001. Remodeled the house and by February was working in Orange TX on a 4 unit gas-fire power plants. From there to Ashland Miss on a 3 unit then to Luther Oklahoma 4 unit plant of the same type. In late January of 4004 we decided we had done enough traveling and I retired We enjoyed staying home for a while. In November of 2006 Carol suddenly passed away after a brief illness. By mid 2007 I had reacquainted myself with the Masonic Organization in Show Low and in 2010 I became Master of the Lodge and served a 2 yr term. During my second year I became a Royal Arch Mason as well as a Knights Templar. I am at present the Secretary of our lodge in Show Low "White River Lodge # 62" plus the Grand Sword Bearer of The Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Arizona. I also like to read and fish when i find time.

RETIRED 2004. Have a home in the mountains of Show Low Arizona. Was in Orange Texas and expected to go to Washington again but wound up in Ashland Mississippi, then at Luther Oklahoma. Hope to retire from there. 8 years in the military and 28 with one of the largest Engineering/Construction Companies in the US we have been many places. China, South America, Australia, Canada an loads of places in the US has afforded us opportunities few people get. The down side is that old friends and family are not seen to often and you seem to have a lot of storage buildings and several of the same type of things. Traveling extensively is not one of the things I expect to do in retirement. We were enjoying retirement and our home when life decided to take a cruel turn and Carol became sick and passed away on 11.02.06.
