Cleo's Story
Life
I like to say that I've crammed more into 50 years than most people manage in 100. I've done everything I ever wanted to do, and a lot of things I never wanted to do.
I married Bill soon after high school. We spent a few years in England, and I enlisted in the Air Force. Bill and I went to Homestead AFB and lived in Florida for a year. We divorced after about 5 years. Bill's a great guy. I understand he's doing VERY well, and has a wonderfull life, we were just too young.
I was still in the AF and went back to England, where I met and married Patrick. We had two kids, Megan and Daniel, and stayed in England even after I got our of the service. I graduated with a BS from the University of Maryland on base, I taught machine knitting and had a little studio where I did work for a designer named Rachel Grimmer (look her up on the web) and life was good for a good while. We bought a house and I completely restored it. I learned how to plaster and even repoint brickwork...Expand for more
.
Then we came back to the US. I'd been away almost 14 years and I didn't know how to deal with this country. SO MUCH busier than England. We had made a really good profit on the house in England and bought the "perfect" house in Maryland (boring - I should have bought something that needed work). Patrick contracted to the government, money was not an issue, life was TOO easy. SO being me, I made really bad choices and decided it was time to try something new.
After I left Patrick (and he is a really good guy as well) I spent a year playing "bachelorette". Now that was a fun year. The kids were in their teens and stayed with Patrick during the week so as not to change schools. I refused to be saddled with the big perfect house and got a little apartment. I drove a wrangler. I was skinny. I had the kids on weekends, worked as an admin assist to a CEO, helped a friend open her own business, decorated (and loved) my place. That was the year!
Then I'll finish later...
