Cliff's Story

Sorry to crash your reunion website. I went to Walter Moberly but then my family moved to Saskatoon (!) for one really cold winter and a dust storm-filled summer and then eventually we moved to South Pasadena, California, where I graduated from South Pasadena High School in 1973. I know, it's one year off but I skipped a grade somewhere along the way. I blame my Mom for teaching me how to read before I went to school. Long story short, I was supposed to be in your class. We just had our 50th reunion. I was on the reunion committee, and we were able to get 135 out of a class of 319 to attend our reunion weekend. We've had at least 53 classmates pass away but we can't find everyone and not everyone wants to be found, so we don't know for sure. Our reunion was very fun, we make it a weekend with a Friday night no host bar at a hotel where we have reserved a block of rooms. Saturday is a golf tournament for any classmates and spouses that want to play, and a no host Ladies Lunch for... well, ladies, Saturday night is the big event and Sunday morning is a picnic at the city park. The theory is that with multiple events, you get to spend some time with pretty much everyone you want to and even get to know classmates you didn't know very well in school. If you're curious about what ours looked like, one of our administrators has left the door open on our website if you would like t...Expand for more
o check out pictures of people you don't know. Some have aged at faster rates than others, just like you! I can't post a link here but if you search SPHS Class of 1973 or South Pasadena High School Class of 1973, you will find it on the "classmates" platform. There's a column on the left and you can click on the top couple of sections. Blah blah blah! Why did I come here? One of the things we did on the committee was search for former classmates that didn't make it to graduation but might be interested in attending. We actually got about 6 of the 43, including 2 foreign exchange students who only stayed on year. We also found 20 or so teachers and got 3 of them to attend! Before you ask, 2 of them were 90 and one was 87. I was fresh off my reunion and feeling the love I thought I would try to find my former Walter Moberly classmates and see if I recognized any of them. The only way I could do this was to sign up for the website. So, I did. Spoiler alert I didn't recognize anyone's names. Gee, I don't know why, it was only 50 years ago plus another 10 or so! And I probably didn't know anyone's last names anyway. But it seemed like such a good idea in my head! So, if you haven't recognized me or don't remember me, there's a really good reason. Again, I apologize for any confusion. And if Walter Moberly wasn't a feeder into John Oliver, well never mind! Carry on! Cliff
