Cliff (Kip) 's Story
Born in Sarles, ND. Can you believe the 27th of January? Grew up in Ashland, Oregon, went through all
grades there. I was just another student at Ashland Senior High School. Was a Grizzly Knight. Played tenor sax in the school band. Studied accordion with Eve Prentice of Medford, Oregon for 10 years.
We traveled back to Sarles several times during the war, and in '47, '48, '49. Had a lot of friends plus relatives
there.
Thirty three years of Active duty and Civil Service in the US Army, in Electronics, Small Arms and
Special Weapons, (Nuclear Electronics).
'51-'54 Korea for 14 months, Japan a short time. Married in '54. Divorced in '55. Went active from the Idaho National Guard, held my rank. '55-'56 was stationed at Ft Huachuca, AZ. Then got assigned to Thule,
Greenland in '56-'57. Picked-up a paid for '57 Silver Hawk, B & W and loaded at the factory when I came back
from Greenland. Stationed at Cp Hanford, WA. Got married there in '57 and then was transferred to Van

Nuys, CA. Discharged in '62.
Settled in Emmett, Idaho. Two girls had been born in Washington. A late comer in 76, a boy.
Designed and built homes until '68, Then got a position with the US Army, as a Department of the Army
Civilian. Wife passed away in '91, retired the same year.
Bought the 91 Mazda MX-6 Tuaveling and doing what we wanted too.
After graduation and several years of working and training in Boise, he went to Portland to get more training
and work with the big boys.
In 2000 along came this Georgia Peach, and we were married in '01. We are both into genealogy. Bought a
motor home in '01 and went to Georgia, via Ontario doing research. In '05 Sold the 9 acre ranch and bough a
31 ft motor home, spent another year around the Country, going to a Hodgins family reunion and more research, spent part of the winter near Phoenix, then back to Boise. Bought a home in Caldwell in '07, and that's the way
it is, except health has kept me from much physical activity now.
