Clifton's Story
Retired social worker with a lovely wife and dog (and two grown children). First grandchild (male) was born 8-1-2010. I had given up on grandchildren a couple weeks before my son called to tell us that we would be grandparents. HAPPY TIMES!!
I currently play on-line poker, on-line Scrabble, and walk my dog (who died 10-3-13 unfortunately). I have returned to playing racquetball after 18 months off due to rotator cuff surgery and eye-lid surgery.
In April 2010, I joined a vocal group, "Alive & Kickin'." They are 60+ year old singers who enjoy singing (some are retired professionals). We performed "Spamalot" (musical version of Monty Python and the Holy Grail) at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival on 8-28-10 and the Minnesota State Fair Amateur Talent Contest. Check out our rehearsal video on YouTube (search: Alive & Kickin "We Will Rock You"). Yes, that is me in the black cowboy hat and black "Grandfather" t-shirt in the front row (right) as the video begins. We are a non-profit and we are available to perform at your event. We mostly do "classic rock" numbers. This is a fun group!
In August 2011, Alive & Kickin performed three two-hour shows at the Old Arizona Theater in Minneapolis. We continue to perform shorter shows at various locations around the Twin Cities. We wiere the warm-up act for Theatre Latte Da at the Lake Harriet Bandshell this summer.
In June 2012, Alive & Kickin did six two-hour performance "Love Is Alive...and Kickin" at the Old Arizona Theater. For that show, my solo was "I Will Wait for You" the love theme from "The Umbrellas of Cher...Expand for more
bourg". I can give you a website where you can check us out (including links to several of the songs from our August 2011 show).
Our third show, "Flashback" was performed in 2013. My solo was "Light My Fire." An old friend from Camp Co-op-a-gan saw the show and loved it.
Jan and I owned a "small RV" (14-16 mpg) from 2006 to 2014 and hoped to be able to travel the U.S.A. visiting National Parks, friends, and family. In mid-May 2011, we drove to Silicon Valley to visit our son, his wife, and their son. Did you know that it snows in the Rockies and the Sierra Nevada Mountains in May? I was aware of the possibility, but we got hit with snow three times during the trip. Due to health issues, we sold the RV in Sept 2014.
I have been "De-Ranged" since high school and have lived in the Twin Cities since then.
John Wall was my oldest friend from Lincoln Elementary School. I was able to reconnect with him and invited him to the 2014 performance of "Makin' History" at the Bloomington Center for the Arts. Julie Vilsmeyer Stewart came with husband and grand-daughter. For that show, my solo was David Bowie's "Space Oddity."
Has anyone heard from Ken Luke? I believe that he may have died a few years ago.
How about Kathy Lasky? (Thanks, Barb, for getting me in touch with her!)
JoAnn Lisowski was my female confidante as I was growing up (through early High School). Facebook friends these days.
The June 2015 show will be "Winds of Change" at the Bloomington Center for the Arts (first two weekends in June). My assigned solo is Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A-Changin"
