5/1956 to 9/1958 - Civil Service, Seward/Moose Pass, Alaska. From a Partsman to Heavy Duty Truck Driver. Laid off for lack of experience after 2 years, 4 months.
5/1959 to 6/1964 - Civil Service, Fairbanks/Anchorage. From a Heavy Duty Truck Driver (Ladd AFB/Ft. Wainwright) in Fairbanks to a Heavy Duty Equipment Operator (Ft. Richardson) in Anchorage. Laid off 7 times in 8 years. Resigned to work in the private sector.
6/1964 to 12/1996 - Consolidated Freightways. From a Mechanics Helper in the Anchorage shop to Chicago as a Transport Operat...Expand for more
or (over the road truck driver). To Salt Lake City as a T/O, to Management. Then to the Corp. Office in Menlo Park, CA as Mgr., Technical Support & Product Training. Job abolished and forced to retire after 32 years and 5 months, but who's counting?.
12/1996 to 5/1997 - Retired.
5/1997 to 6/2002 - Triple A Container as a Driver. After figuring out I was working for $17.24 a month more than Socical Security would pay me, I RETIRED. Have driven close to 3 million total miles in my life time.
6/2002 to Present - Retirement, it's the best job I ever had.
