Cole's Story
I pretty much went to work full time right after High School. I never had any interest in or attended college. After a couple of menial jobs between 1975 & 1977 I landed on my career as a 911 Dispatcher at DuComm in Wheaton where I worked until 1989. I was also a Firefighter (paid on call) in Carol Stream from 77 to 89. I was married in 1983 and then divorced in 1993. From my first marriage came my 2 GREAT kids, my daughter Shannon in 1985 and my Son, Eric in 1988. After the divorce in 1993, I didn't date at all and instead focused on raising my kids and on my busy career.
After leaving DuComm and 12 years of public service in 1989 I ventured into the private sector of EMS and dispatching. First working as a dispatch and billing manager for a private ambulance company in Glen Ellyn and then as a flight coordinator and manager for AeroCare, a DuPage Airport based Air Ambulance company. I worked at AeroCare for 10 years through 2004.
I've stayed pretty close to Wheaton all this time and in order I lived in Carol Stream, Lisle, Bolingbrook, Carol Stream (again), Glendale Heights, Geneva and presently my home is in St Charles.
The last 4 years have probably been the most significant in my 51 years. At the end of 2004, after 10 years I lost a very good job with AeroCare Air A...Expand for more
mbulance. At the time it sucked but it ended up being one of the best things that has ever happened in my work life.
In January of 2005 I leveraged all my experience and contacts and started my own business from home. Today, my company, One Call Medical Transports, headquartered in St Charles, provides medical transportation services and logistics to clients throughout the world and employs 15 people full time.
In January of 2006, I met Wendy. Wendy, who was the mother of one of my Daughter's friends had stoped by the office to thank me for a favor and we hit it off immediately. I hired wendy to work for the company and after a few months in a not so great employer/employee relationship we started to click. Wendy and I now have a home together in St Charles and we are engaged to be married in May of 2009.
My Daughter Shannon (who works for my company full-time) lives with us as does Wendy's son, Sam and on weekends, my Son, Eric comes home from NIU where he is a Sophmore.
I can't really honestly say that my High School years were great or memorable or that I really miss them. I really never cared much for school but I sure enjoyed and remember a lot of the people I met along the way even though I didn't really keep up afterwards.
I hope to see you all again some day.
