Colleen's Story
Has it really been 30 years since graduation? No, tell me its not so.
After graduation I attended GRCC for almost two years with every intention of eventually getting a degree in Child Psychology. However, the math classes got to me and I decided to take a break and unfortunately never went back. I went to work for GSA in Auburn for a few years and then went to work for Boeing, where I have been for the last 23 years. I was laid off for almost two years, during which time I went to Renton Technical and received a certificate in Medical Coding. Luckily, I was able to be rehired at Boeing months later after graduating RTC.
I met my husband, Wade in 1986, we dated for 4 years, lived together 4 years, and then decided it would be best to get married because we had ended up with too many things in both of our names. This year we will celebrate our 15th anniversary.
We live in Algona so I haven't moved very far from where I grew up, actually only about ...Expand for more
4 blocks to the south. No kids at our house, just Wade, me and the cat, along with lots of nieces and nephews that come for great visits.
We are both major motorheads, so at our house the louder the engine the more fun you're having. For fun, we normally snowmobile all winter, and jeep all summer, or at least try to when Wade isn't working 24/7. Snowmobiling has gotten less and less in the last few years. We have learned when a person of our age crashes, you stay sore for more than a couple of days; and when you get wet and cold, it takes a lot longer to take the chill off even with one or two Hot Butter Rums for rapid relief. Brrrrrrr. We also enjoy gardening and having a nice landscaped yard.
I am really enjoying reading all of your stories and seeing the photos you are posting here. It appears that you are all doing wonderful and have beautiful families (including grandchildren - yikes - are we really that old? Hee Hee). Thank you for sharing.
