cona's Story
I'm now 90 years old. I attended General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan, after my 1940 graduation. I met my husband in 1941, we were married in 1942, and had 69 years of happy marriage. Lindsey was in the Navy for
four years during WWII. After the war he worked for the Detroit Free Press, did public relations for Michigan
Bell Telephone and ATT in New York City. After we saved enough money we bought six weekly newspapers in

veled throughout Asia and North Africa and Europe. We retired to Florida 30 years ago. Lin died two years ago. I'm quite active and enjoy children, grandchildren, and now a great-grandchild. I remember my years at Holcomb High School as happy years, with good friends and teachers. I remember the young man I dated my senior year at Holcomb who was killed when Pearl Harbor was bombed. He was trapped in the Arizona. The only thing I have never missed from those years is the September-October cotton-picking vacation.
