Connie's Story
A friend told me when we were seniors that some of the girls on one of the sports teams (forget which) had a conversation about me and they realized nobody really knew much about me, except that I was nice. Back then I thought that was cool - like somehow I was better off keeping people at arm's length, but now I think it was just sad. I guess I'm still a bit of a chameleon, but WAY more willing to share info about myself than I was in high school. I was a computer programmer after graduating from WMU in 1990. Got married in 1993, husband's name is Joe. Moved to NY state in 1996 and did desktop pc support at a community college, then was a travelling computer consultant for a year before the company went under. Lousy job market for techies at that time, so I went to work in accounts receivable at a small insurance/bonding company. ce broker. We moved to Massachusetts, about 20 miles north of Boston summer 2007. Not working in MA yet (took some time off), but hope to soon. Still haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up, or if I SHOULD grow up!! No kids, we tried, even did all the medical options available, but no luck. There are definitely worse things than not being able to have kids, so I'm not complaining. Personal life has also been varied - I've volunteered at U of M Hospitals, as a Big Sister, a Hospice volunteer (visiting terminally-ill patients), and raised funds for local charities with a women's club in NY. Joe and I have travelled a bit - there's a lot of world out there beyond Hope and Sanford. I hope to see more of it, too. All in all, things are good - thought I'd check out the membership here on classmates (signed up for 3 months, starting June 2008) and see how some of the other Mustang alums are doing.
