Connie Merritt:  

. I played flute/piccolo in the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Orchestra and Marching Band. I participated in the Opera Workshop as Props Mistress, Assistant Stage Manager and Performer, not necessarily all at one time. My last role was that of "Amahl" in "Amahl and the Night Visitors." I also spent two seasons as drum major for the marching band. That was a fantastic experience and really helped me as a band director. I also became a member of Sigma Alpha Iota and was very active in the Epsilon Theta Chapter as an officer most every year I attended App State. I loved every minute of my college life for the most part. One of my most incredible experiences was getting to meet Leontine Price after a recital she had in Asheville my last semester in college. It was amazing to meet such a great person who has such a rich history as a performer. That moment will always stay with me.
