Connie's Story
Life in 2009
Welcome 2009!
Shorter hair - easy to manage! But I have reassured myself IT WILL GROW !
I just know this is going to be a good year. More friends have signed up with me on Classmates and I have heard from friends that I have not seen in years.
We played "Guitar" something ? at our sons home this weekend. There were drums, a guitar and a microphone that you had to use and follow on the screen of the TV. I guess everyone but me knows about this!
All I could do was get booed off for singing! But Dan, on the drums, Cassie on the guitar and Britni on the mic got "You Rock" several times. I spent time chasing the two little girls !!!......fun...fun...fun!
UPDATE:
Here is another picture that is a little easier to see on my profile.
It is now 2008 Holiday Season! We have increased our family by one little precious grand daughter, born on 9-8-2008.
I love receiving the Christmas cards and they are flooding in. So many of them with pictures that I love. We are planning the Christmas celebration at our home again and are so blessed that our family is all coming home.
We are in the middle of a remodeling project - replacing all carpet with wood flooring and tile. I can lay tile with the best of them but that wood that eveyone said was so "easy - holds a different definition, according to Connie."
"Sell stuff" in Q and A means EBAY and AKC Champion Bloodline Shih Tzu puppies!
THE BEGINNING:
My married name is Connie Mitchell. I met and married SWT quarterback Cliff Mitchell when I was a Strutter at SWT. I went to college two years studying speech therapy and decided school was not cut out for me or vice versa, whichever makes sense.
I moved to Austin and went to work for the State Board of Insurance. A Strutter friend of mine from Dallas quit and went with me, we had a REALLY good time. I continued to work until 1999, moving several times, as Cliff was a coach.
We just had our 37th Anniversary.
I retired in 1999 from The City of Brownwood. I am looking for pictures, I have many from there, and will post them as soon as they appear!
I am a "stay at home"... "on call 24/7 grandmother, wife, and mother! " This is my dream come true.
We have one son and daughter-in-law, Dan and his precious wife of 12 years. Dan graduated from SWT with a degree in Agricultural Management.
We have one daughter, Britni. She was a Strutter for two years, also a graduate of SWT with a degree in Liberal Arts. She got married February 28, 2004. She and her husband, Derek, just bought a new home . They had a beautiful baby girl on 10-4-2006. A sister joined her September 8, 2008.
We are very PROUD GRANDPARENTS, FINALLY !!!
I must brag a bit on my son. His ...Expand for more
picture is on the flyers for McCoy's Building Supply for all of their stores when they feature ranch equipment. As well as on the new web page for emailing McCoy. We are very proud of him.
When we have a Reunion, everyone will be surprised to know I have not changed in my thinking or acting. Still 29 and won't change! And that I am still married to the same man!
I have learned several things from my kids:
You cannot "plan" a day when your kids are at home.
They are always listening, but have selective hearing. They will always push up against the "limits line" sometimes just to test you.
The most important thing I learned from them is that they hold all the cards for the deepest love in the "kids" part of your heart. And that they always maintain the elements to make your heart grow in ways you never thought possible.
My first crush was older than me. We lived in San Marcos. When I think of him, I see his "killer smile". I was in the fifth grade. He lived on the same street that I did and he would ride his bicycle down to our end of the street where all the kids gathered daily.
Ironically, he is the reason I met Cliff for the first time. Cliff lived in Luling and that is where he moved. He, Cliff and another friend were best friends even though they were older than him (but he had a zillion friends in every age group).
I drove over to Luling when I heard he had moved there. At this time I was in high school (I carried a "flaming torch") and the 3 of them were riding around town.
End of story - I met Cliff for the first time.
The Story Wizard wants to know how I blow off steam? It is a constructive way........
I pull weeds or make another flower bed - naturally every weed has a personal name!
My favorite way to relax is to have a very pretty frosted glass and I fill it with a Margarita !
Now, if I have not planned to relax, I get any glass and fill it with wine !!!!
Story Wizard Answer of a Childhood Memory:
I was about 5 years old and had just had my ears pierced. I was swinging in the backyard. When I jumped out of the swing my new little hoop earring got caught in the chain on the swing. It jerked my earring out, tearing the piercing.
When it healed, I had it pierced again, but it is uneven with the other one, not pierced in the same place. And....it still is!
I have many heros. the first one that comes to mind is the author Anthony Robbins, the inspirational speaker and author of many videos and books. My favorite book of his is "Awaken the Giant Within". I have seen him in person and at 6'7" tall, he is very good looking and very tall! This book I mentioned has brought me through many down times. I would recommend it highly to anyone.
