Connie's Story
Life
Life...one little word that means alot and is diverse on many levels. There isn't enough room to detail what has happened in the time since High School has past. I went to college, got married, divorced, lost a lot but gained a lot as well. All the time learning valuable life lessons along the way. I am a better person because of it.
School sucked for me - I was the quite fat kid that no one wanted on their teams in gym class. I didn't have very many friends and of those I really have found out just who really counted as such. All I can really say to people in my class is you really lost out on getting to know someone special by not talking to me.
College
Which go around with college? LOL...I will forever be in college I fear because I really don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I end up back at the University of Akron off and on so much forever seeking to attain some certification of some kind. Next stop is graduate school for me.
April 2008 update- as of 2005 I haven't returned to college and at this moment have no plans to do so.
Workplace
Hmmm lets just say I am the "Jane of all trades" - you name it and I have d...Expand for more
one it at some point. Fast food/retail - been there, Factory/Warehouse - done that, Health care - MRDD, self employed - got the bankruptcy to prove it, giving up on a dream - NEVER. I am currently doing sales for a larger photographic retailer. I love my job and I have progressed up the ladder to mid management in a years time.
April 2008 update - I am still in the camera biz. I love the diversity of my career and that I can move from place to place. The pay is far better than I imagined when starting this path in 2005. I also work part time in a coffee shop - more for the people watching than the money lol.
I left sales to in a Hilton branded hotel after being laid off. in 2011 i suffered 4 strokes and have spent the last year relearning to walk, talk and chew gum:) lol. i am now working toward part time blogger, author, public speaker to raise awareness about Strokes and young Stroke Survivors.
I am waiting on a position with a new nonprofit organization that is geared towards young survivors so I can use my skills to help others find support. The organization will be International and I am looking forward to being productive again.
