Constance's Story

Life I guess I was like all girls in the 50's. After graduation I wanted to get married and have children. I worked for an insurance company and I also did volunteer work at the USO downtown at the Soldiers Memorial. I met my husband on a trip to Fort Leonard Wood one Sunday afternoon. We got married in January, 1961 and got stationed at Tripler Army Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. My first son was born there. Then we were transfered to Fort Hood, Texas where my daughter was born. My second son was born in Mountain View, Missouri while living at Fort Leonard Wood. My family and I stayed at Fort Leonard Wood while my husband went to Viet Nam. Upon his return, we moved back to Fort Hood, Texas. Then we spent some time ...Expand for more
at Fort Sill, Oklahoma while my husband was in school. From there we were stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. Then it was on to Mainz, Germany for three years. My children and I really did enjoy our selves there. So much history to see. Finally my husband retired after 26 years in the Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. We moved to my husbands home town of Harrison, Arkansas. October, 1984 was a very sad time for me. My husband passed away and in January, 1985 I moved back to Bellefontaine Neighbors to be close to my mother. I met my present husband at church and we were married in October, 1992. I am now retired from Fireman's Fund Insurance Company and my husband retired from Boeing. I think I have had a full life.
