Cort's Story
Life
I'm the guy who had a 1967 RS/SS Camero, a 1937 Chevy pick up and a 1957 Chevy pick up during the last two years of high school. I wasn't very popular nor very sociable. I have lived in Tucson Arizona since 1995. I married a woman from Sweden, who I met in Germany while I was running an American company there in the early 90's. She has carried 7 of my children. I have 8 children total. My eldest lived in Camarillo with my Ex untill he graduated from Adolfo.
I am a computer/network and electronics technician, but I also have a woodworking business named Euromerican Woodworks. Look us up on the net.
I have served in the US Army twice. 1982 to 1986 ( Active Duty ), then after the fall of the Twin Towers in New York I re-enlisted into the Army National Guard, and served in the Iraq war 2003 to 2004.
School
I went to 4 High Schools, and ended up graduating out of Adolfo Camarillo, where I hung out on the Upper Lawn. I was generally quiet and didn't socialize much. I was a Gear Head. Had my own vehicles since the age of ten. I loved living in Encinitas. The beach and learning to surf was very cool. I was only allowed to drive back and forth to the beach then, and had just bought my second vehicle. A 1957 Chevy Pick-Up and installed a hand made Red Wood camper shell on it. We then moved and I was allowed to drive daily to El Camino Real High, in Woodland Hills and then later to driver's ed class at Agoura High, in Agoura Hills. No one ever really knew who I was or how old. Some kids at El Camino thought I might have been a NARC due to my driving to school but being enrolled into 9th grade. The LA Police Dept. was enrolling NARCS into School during those years. I was only 14. I did get kicked out of El Camino, and the Officials at Agoura figured I was kicked out of El Camino due to drug busts... I liked the weed, but never dealt it, (I quit the weed a couple of years later). Then we moved to Camarillo. The only High School with out an auto shop or metal shop. The wood shop wasn't much, but I enjoyed having it. I did the auto and metal work at home on my own and made money with it on the side.
There was one girl who helped me in English class at El Camino when I first started, because I had a broken wrist. There was one other in auto shop who liked to sit on my lap, but I never had a regular "Girlfriend" untill moving to Camarillo. I knew many girls and I was always the nice guy who had wheels through out High School. I guess I just didn't have the Romantic interests of the girls...
I'm 6'2" and my closest friend Allen is 6'6". We were generally always together at Adolfo Camarillo High, and after school. Much like brothers. In fact Allan Curtiss, Kevin Goin and I are "Blood Brothers". We did the cutting of the hand and splattering of blood during hand-shakes.
There was one teacher at Adolfo who I really liked. He taught Biology and Human Physiology. Very quiet and always had a monotone voice, but he was very smart and cool if you talked to him. I don't remember his name, but he had red hair.
The wood shop teacher at Agoura who had been in the Navy was also cool, and he ran a tight ship in class. I don't remember his name either, but he built a ship shaped bassinette for his baby girl. He also told me I smelled like burnt rope most of the time.
College

lleges. One was even a Mormon JC in Idaho. I enjoyed Ricks. I had a beat up, windowless (did have the windsheild glass) 1963 Chevy step-side pick-up, with a racing LT1 engine. It also had an ugly aluminum camper shell with everything I owned at the time in the back.
The military was my best school experience. I got into electronics, dealing mainly in telecommunications. An excellent move I must say, in reguards to the education I received. 2 days after I was honorably discharged from the Army, I started working for a Prime Contractor to the Federal Government, only now I got into Mainframe and mini Computer Systems. No longer a need for the Top Secret clearance, I dropped down to a Secret clearance and have had it ever since. Very Cool. Took me around the world.
Workplace
I Have a side business in Woodworking. Euromerican Woodworks. I have also been in the electronics field most of my life. I started by wiring my own vehicles. With that knowledge, I was able to score high enough in the Navy and Army top electronics/communications courses. The Air Force didn't have it. I chose the Army. I'd rather listen to incomming mortars, and have, rather than wait to drown...
from there I got into Microwave, RF, and Satellite telecommunications systems and how to fix them. Got out and started learning how large computer systems work and how to fix them. During this time Personal computers came out. I've been in the repair business since desk top systems only had one, then two diskette drives. Being how I have a high aptitude for mechanics, I taught my self how to fix the old Card Punch machines. I traveled around the country being one of only two guys the company had who could do the repair of these machines. After having 4 children by then, I got out of DOD Contracting and setled down to a placid unexciting but stable job in computers and mainly now Cisco Networking equipment. Then the Twin Towers went down. After 17 years, I re-enlisted into the Army National Guard. I didn't think they would have anyone in uniform to do the job as a technician for their equipment. As it turned out, I was their only technician for anything that had to do with electronics and general electricity. They were paying contractors to do their repair work. Then it was off to war in Iraq... I have since been discharged once again. I still have my old job doing computer and networking repairs.
