Cortina's Story
Life
I moved from Desert Center in 1992 and eventually ended up in Oregon. I lived there from the 7th grade until a year or so after I graduated high school, at which time I joined the Navy. I was a builder until March 2005, when I got out! :) Then I got married on Jun 26, 2004. No kids yet, but hopefully soon! I was a teacher at a Christian school for 3 years and then I went to school to be a cosmetologist. Now I live in Germany with my husband, who's still active duty. He's also WAY awesome.
School
High school was super fun for me. I was in Drama, Choir, anything that got me in front of people. I had so many amazing friends and I miss them all. My favorite teacher was Ms. Larsen, and I sure do miss her, too. I've had a teeny tiny bit of community college, a few classes at Bible college I finished cosmetology school with great grades but never got licensed. I guess I just need to ma...Expand for more

Workplace
While in High school, I worked at the theater. I stayed there all summer. Then I moved to Beaverton and worked at an optical store. I then became a nanny and watched 3 adorable kids. Next came 5 years in the Navy, where I met my husband and travelled to Hawaii, Japan and Guam. Then I was a teacher at a Christian school for 3 years. Now I'm beauty school grad who doesn't do much hair.
Military
Well, I can tell you I personally hated every minute of being in the navy. But it was good for me. It opened a lot of doors, I met my husband and all in all, I wouldn't trade those 5 years for the world. I've been to Illinois, Mississippi, Hawaii, Japan and Guam. I've renovated a daycare center and an elementary school among other projects during the time I did construction for the navy. I love the life I have now and the navy helped form all that I have and am today.
