Cory's Story

Life I have had a pretty good life so far. Most of my friends will remember that I have had to have surgery a few times. Well, back a few years ago, I had to have more. The doctor said that this should be the last time, but doctors have been wrong before. so I just take each day as it comes. My Job I love my job. i am Cashier at a grocery store. I have now been working there for 10 years, and most of the time it's pretty good. Sure, there are bad days and bad moments, just like any other job out there. Friends Most of my friends from high school will remember me as outgoing, friendly and energetic. Some will remember me being involved in track and cross country. I would still love to do these things, but as I have gotten older, and have had some significant changes in my mobility, it is no longer possible for me to do these things. Don't worry, I can still walk, just not as easily as I did back in school. There are a few people from school that I would specifically love to get back into contact with. One is Angie Owens. I have done Internet searches for her or her dad several times, all coming out fruitless. I would also love to catch back up with Diana Trinkle. She was a few grades lower than I was, but we were always very close. I have also done multiple searches for her, but to no avail. School I have attempted to continue my education after high school, but it has been increasingly difficult. I atttended Middle Tennessee State University for about two semesters, and was sent packing due to my academic status. I then moved to North Carolina and started attending the local technical community college. After several classes there, I became less and less motivated to continue my education. I have since tried taking classes online from University of Phoenix. After the first two classes, I realized that I was spending way too much money to be making the...Expand for more
kind of grades I was making. I soon dropped out there as well. I do intend to go back eventually, but until I can pry my head out of a very dark, stinky place, it seems to be just a waste of time and money. Goals Eventually, I do hope to do something involving music. Currently, i go out to some local clubs and do karaoke as often as possible. I am also looking to join a band somewhere so that I can do some singing. Most of my friends will remember that all through high school, I was involved in either band, chorus, or musical theatre. Marriage and Dating I am still single, even after all the girlfriends that I had back then. I have never been great at choosing the best girls to date. After high school, I broke up with Sunshine. The three year age gap, along with the physical distance between us made things very difficult. Most of my friends will remember that I always cared for Lorie Williams. She and I used to talk every once in a while, but due to the fact that she is married, we have drifted apart.I still care for her, but I had to back off, to help save what sanity I have left, lol. I have had a few girlfriends since I moved to NC, but I have come to understand that I don't make the best choices when it comes to choosing dating partners. I have decided that, for now, I don't need to be concerned about dating. Instead, I try to focus on becoming the best person that I can be. Teachers There are a couple teachers that I would love to see again. Ms. Kathy Shaffer was one of the greatest and most memorable teachers that I ever had. The funniest thing I can remember from health class, is that she didn't want to go through the driver handbook any more than we did. She started out be telling us that we were to treat out handbook with respect and dignity, and by the end of the semester, even she was calling it, "that stupid handbook that we have to go over.
