Craig's Story

Life After escaping Kingston in '87 I went to Cornell University where I studied various flavors of Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, etc.), ultimately discovering that I did not have the desire for such a career. However, I did discover an interest in Computers. After graduating I found random computer-related work for a few years in the Ulster County area. I contracted for some database programming work, volunteered to teach some after-school computer classes for underpriveledged youth and generally tried to figure out a career. Then the internet hit, and I worked with a few local companies that were doing web/application development. Of course, the Hudson Valley being what it is...Expand for more
, I could only take my career so far there before realizing I needed to be in NYC. So I got hired by a financial company in Manhattan (BlackRock) and moved to the big city. First I lived in Westchester with a friend, then met my wife and moved with her to the Bronx. Then came 9/11. We loved the city, but the stress of working for a wall street firm, plus the aftermath of the attacks, plus the Anthrax threat, plus seeing soldiers with automatic weapons in my train station everyday wore on me. After we married and our first kid came, we packed it up and moved to South Jersey. And here we are, homeowners with a 2nd kid in tow (both boys), and in a much more relaxed environment.
