Craig's Story

After St.James I went to Mergenthaler HS, took commercial art. After H.S. I enlisted into the US Marines went to the famous Parris Island S.C. Then to Camp Geiger N.C. for basic infantry training. 1964 I was sent to Hawaii and was part of the 1stMarine Brigade, I was assigned as a driver for an artillery unit, went from Hawaii to Okinawa then on to Viet Nam, I did a year there and returned to a Marine air wing unit in N.C. from where I finished my four year tour of duty. Met my wife of 48 years when I was back in the "world" as we used to call going back to the states, I was in country about 6 months when we met, I got interested in the martial arts and obtained the rank of 4th degree Black belt and taught Kenpo as...Expand for more
an instructor for 4 years. I worked for the Md. department of trans retiring after 30 yrs. We only had one child a daughter, she played music in H.S. and went on to follow her dads foot prints on the ones painted in yellow at Parris Island, she auditioned for the Marine band and received a guarantee of attending the school of music, ironically her first duty station was with the Marine band of the Pacific and wound up on the same base I was first stationed, while in the band she did a lot of traveling, later she decided to change her job title and trained for combat instructor, she did a tour in Iraq and Afghanistan, unlike her dad she remained in the Marine and just recently retired after 20yrs. as a Master Sgt.
