Ruth's Story
Life
This year was my 34th wedding anniversary. I met my husband in college. After two years of marriage I came down with a Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. I was treated for it and lucky for me I am in complete remission. Unfortunately the doctors think the radiation I received 30 years ago to cure me caused me to come down with DCIS breast cancer. That is cancer in the ducts of the breast. Lucky for me it was caught early. For all the women out there please go and have your yearly screenings. Nothing showed up on my mammogram or sonogram. I found it when they did a MRI of the breasts. You may be scared of the tests but better to find something early when it can be treated. I had double mastectomies with saline implants and am doing fine so far.
After many years of unknown fertility problems, we adopted our daughter Lucy. She was 3 weeks old when we got her and is now a beautiful 15year old. She is now in 9th grade. I can't believe a freshman in highschool. Where has the ti...Expand for more
me gone.
I am a full time stay at home mom. I love to bake, garden, and do quilting. I belong to a group called the Huntington Quilters. There are over 100 members. For exercise I go once a week and do Irish set dancing. It is a lot of fun. It is a fancy form of square dancing.
We reside on the North Shore of Long Island in Greenlawn, which is in the township of Huntington. My husband is an avid sailor so we love living so close to the sound. This year we finally got a boat. It is all wooden called a beetle cat. It is one of the smallest ones, but prettiest in the harbor. It is a great boat to learn to sail on. We are hoping our daughter might start to have an interest in it. My Husband was a credit analyst for foreign banks in NYC, He is now semi retired and does taxes for H&R Block. It is seasonal work which is great. He only has to work during the busy tax season.
I hope you all are doing well. Time has really flown by. Take care Ruth Zackson Taylor
