Curt's Story
Life
I am married to the former Peggy Ann Strain, we live in Indianapolis, and we celebrated our 41st wedding anniversary this year. We have a daughter, Nicole Ann (Hribernik) Weidman, a graduate of Ben Davis High School (1999) and Ivy Tech State College (2004), and a granddaughter, Kaleigh Ann Weidman, born in 2005. Our family has been blessed and life has been pretty good to us.
After high school, I spent some time in the Army (101st AB and 1st Armd) and got to see some of the world. I developed a taste for travel and visited the exotic and the mundane. After the military, I returned to college and obtained undergraduate degrees and an MBA while working and doing my part to build a family.
I built a career in the natural gas segment of the energy industry and was acknowledged as an expert in the field of natural gas acquisition while working for ProLiance Energy, a national natural gas marketer. After retiring too early, I reentered the workforce, now working for Wally World (Walmart). My wife, a graduate of Concordia University, gave up her management career to become a full-time caregiver shortly after the birth of our granddaughter.
We still live on the westside of Indianapolis.
While our daughter still lived at home, we ordered one of those bricks for the memory lane in front of Ben Davis High School during the rebuild of the school. It includes my father ('39), me ('71) and my daughter ('99).
Peggy and I still take every opportunity to participate in ballroom dancing.
We vacation nearly every year on the Island of Key West, a place which I recommend highly as a getaway from the hustle and bustle. We are big fans of "island time", which involves loose approximations as to the time you'll meet for any activity.
I hope all who read this have been as fortunate as I and wish you all well.

School
Grade school at Drexel Gardens Elementary was great. Mrs. Rybolt (music), Mrs. Rumple, Mr. (P...Expand for more
aul) Ritterskamp (social studies) and Mr. (Barry) Faden (gym) were my favorite teachers and Mr. (Paul) Calabro was a memorable principal. He was still on the School Board 40 years later, and I met him in passing in downtown Indianapolis in 2011.
Ben Davis Junior High School was okay. After the small-scale environment and structured time we spent at Drexel Gardens, it was confusing and a little scary. But we made new friends and broadened our horizons. How many remember the "sit in" protesting the cafeteria food.
Ben Davis High School was special. The message boards kind of cover it. I still have all three yearbooks ('69, '70 and '71).
College challenged me so it took a while to get Associate of Applied Sciences (Clark College), Bachelor of Arts (Indiana University) and Master of Business Administration (Indiana Wesleyan University) degrees. Great experiences.
Wow, college in the early seventies. Far out man!

Workplace
Like nearly everyone else, my carrer path followed the classic path of the world's oldest profession:
At first it was exciting...
Then I got fairly good at it and it was fun...
As the years wore on and it became drudgery, I did it for the money...
I continued for decades because it was the only thing I knew how to do!
