Cynthia's Story

After an abusive childhood that was filled with attacks from the evil one, who is also known as the devil and Satan, left me very sorrowful and hating myself and I had no understanding about what was happening because I wasn't taught about the faith I needed to overcome his assaults. The evil one was accomplishing everything he wanted to do by telling me to trust no one and making me feel very small and unworthy to live. I didn't know I needed to turn to my Father in Heaven to ask for His help. I wasn't informed about Jesus in that I could turn to Him whenever I needed to. I didn't acknowledge the Lord or prayed to Him or even praised Him, yet He helped me every step of the way. I couldn't have gotten through my ordeals and struggles without His assistance. That's how great, good, loving, caring, and kind our God is, if you just let Him. He is like this for everyone, even toward the ones who don't follow Him. Our Father in Heaven is so awesome! He sent His angel to me whenever I began to cry my heart out, which felt like it was physically breaking and about to fall apart. He came near to me, but not beside me. Whenever He was near, He gave me the comfort I needed to feel better, easing my broken heart until I would stop crying. But of course, I didn't know the kindness and goodness of our God until years later. I believe this was kept from me so I could go through the trials I had to to strengthen me. With this mindset of despising myself and feeling so unworthy of good things in life, I set out on my own at the age of 22. Over the years, I went from one apartment to another, from one job to another, not liking or being satisfied with anything and not connecting with anyone, and not knowing why. I also went from one bad habit to the next, not realizing I was listening to the evil one. But in the background, the good Lord Jesus helped me to survive all those years to endure and not give up by quickly ending each bad habit, so they could not develop into addictions. I still didn't believe in our gracious God or have the wisdom to perceive what was happening to me. I believe He kept that from me because it wasn't time for me yet to see it. Then, out of the blue, I received the desire to see Colorado and move there. And when it was time to go, my loving Father paid for my airplane ticket. He even had an apartment waiting for me. God is so good. He called me back to Him by telling me to go to church. I went without hesitation. I bought a Bible, a silver cross necklace, and a cross; Christ's crucifixion. Our Father asked through Jesus if I would wear white. I accepted and went to the ...Expand for more
store to buy all white or cream-colored clothes to honor our loving God. He even gave me the money to change my clothes from colors to white and cream. Several years later, I found out why He wanted me in Colorado. It was here that I met Bryan. He is my best friend and brother in Christ. He is encouraging and supportive. He has gotten me through a lot of struggles that the evil one has sent to me to try to bring me down and get me to give up. However, I was able to withstand him with Jesus using Bryan by my side. Bryan is one of the greatest gifts God has given me. Today, my faith and trust in God is strong enough that I keep Him first, remain focused on Him, seek out His will to do it wholeheartedly, strive to live like Him in every circumstance, spend time with Him in fellowship, keep Him safely in my heart, turn to Him in decision-making, read His word everyday, strive to worship Him everyday, pray each day and thank Him for all His blessings each day. It is the least I can do after all He has done for me. Being so close to the Lord, I can readily feel His loving presence, experience His joy, feel His love for me, and live in His peace. Life has become so much greater and more exciting because He has lifted me up above my circumstances! I tried to change my mindset over the years by going to different counselors and psychologists, and none could change my mental state or behavior. But when God, my Father, called me back to him through His son, my Lord Jesus, my mindset and behavior changed instantly for the better. I began to love myself and be more caring and compassionate toward others. My God healed my broken heart and broken mind in an instant because I was obedient to Him. Thank you, dear awesome Father! Amen and Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! Another gift God has given me. He gave me my life back. The evil one has plenty of times tried to get me to commit suicide. I complied several times, but they were not life threatening until the last attempt, where I drank a full bottle of wine with many sleeping pills. I slept almost three days and three nights before waking up in my apartment alone. It took me a full month to recover from by just eating and sleeping. God had healed me, and helped me get back on my feet again through finding a job and getting my mindset out of depression and into positive thinking. I lived from that day forth like the incident didn't happen at all. In that, the incident didn't damage my body at all. My God is an awesome God! And this is not the end yet for me. God has called me again into a new season, and I can't wait for it to begin! God is awesome. Amen! Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!
