So I elected to stay here in Florida but I am still a La Mesa gal at heart! My current age is 67. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be dead. I was so completely wrong. Nope I sure don't dress like I did in high school. I sort of miss the old hoop skirts and saddle shoes. I like jeans and boots now. My first job was at a house, where I got paid 75 cents per hour to clean her house. What I remember most about it is she was so fussy and would stand right there and watch me do everything. She must have been happy with my work as I stayed there six months, and then quit. Sure never regretted quitting either!. I remember my Daddy standing inside a big tree. I shared that with my folks many years later and found out that that was the earliest memory I have. They were at the "big trees" in northern Calif. and I was only around 16 months old. Let's see--that is 65 years ago----ouch! But I still remember it.
