Cynthia's Story
May 2010...
A lot has happened since the last time I wrote. My good friend Patti Rejda (Godfrey) passed away a year ago this month. Also, my beautiful yellow lab passed away at 15 yrs old last November. RIP to both...
The good news is that I got married last October to John Jane after dating for several years. We had a fantastic trip to Costa Rica for our honeymoon - definitely recommend it to anyone! My son is now 24 years old, doing well, but looking for a new job. I'm still working at the Golf Academy. That's about all for now, hope everyone is doing great!
October 2008...
Our 30th h.s. reunion is next month, so I though I would update my story. Unfortunately, I can't attend this time... you can't please everyone, but the timing is just not good for me. I've worked for a Golf College in Altamonte Springs, FL for the past two and a half years. I'm the Academic Coordinator / Registrar and spend my time scheduling & counseling adult students who are getting an associates degree in Golf Operations & Management. For the most part, I love what I do... lots of interaction with the students and some golf discounts as well. Jake (son) is now 23, living on his own, and working for Orange County's water conservation program; he also designs websites on the side. I met my boyfriend playing soccer a few years ago and we're still together (talking marriage, but nothing official yet). We love golfing, fishing, the beach, and traveling. I still have my dog Sadie who is 14 yrs old now and starting to decline in health, but still gets around pretty well. I also have a 100 lb black lab and a small, playful, colorful parrot named Maui. he sub list for soccer, but I'm getting back into tennis again after a little bit of a break. Friends I still keep in touch with from high school are: Patti Godfrey (Rejda) and Lisa Pfeiffer (Poindexter).
Life
June 2004...
Life is pretty much great. I have a son who is now 18 and a first year college student. He's a great kid; very competitive at whatever he does, but mostly he's a computer nerd. He's especially interested in "coding" and designing computer software.
Besides working for the Orlando City Ballet on a regular basis, I am self-employed: I do administrative and marketing support, promotions, conventions, music, commercials/TV, whatever comes along. Shortly after arriving in the Orlando area, I began working from home and it has grown to the point that I work as much as I want (or need). It's rarely boring, because I get a lot of variety.
I'm still very involved in sports... I play tennis several times a week and co-ed soccer once a week. Every once in a while I get to play golf, softball or sand volleyball. I have a beautiful yellow lab named Sadie... best dog I've ever had... follows me everywhere I let her.
Prior to Orlando, we moved all over the country and even lived in Japan (Okinawa) three times. I wouldn't trade our travels or friends that we made for anything!
I have a fairly new hobby playing guitar, singing and writing songs a little. Every once in a while I have a chance to play in public -- I've performed at a few weddings, some grand openings, festivals and some parties. Just recently I formed a band called "LunaFish." Again, this is just a hobby... but lots of fun and gives me a good creative outlet.
