Dale's Story
Life
The first picture is after retiring with 21years 2 months 12 days of service in the US Navy. I was a Chief Hospital Corpsman, Pharmacy Technician. The third and fourth pictures were while my wife Christine and I were on the Royal Carribbean cruise ship, Enchantment of the Seas. We hit the Cayman Islands and Jamaica, ya mon!!!
Christine and I have two awesome children Holly was born February 86 and Kyle September 88.
School
I have a lot of fond memories of life at Henry Hudson. Hanging out with Eric Blevin, Marc Layton and Rick Luttrell. I think Mr. Gaffey had the greatest influence on me and Mrs. Gomery chemistry classes were by far the best.
College
Though I started late in life, I graduated from Campbell University in North Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Management.
Workplace
After retiring from the U.S. Navy I was declared 100% disabled by the Veterans Administration and declared 90% combat related disable as well.
Now I am a Research Assistant working on a Masters in young adult development. Also minor in domestic engineering.
Or basically said, I am a house husband!
Military
I enlisted in the US Navy in 1982 was trained as a Hospital Corpman (Medic) in San Diego,CA, a Pharmacy Technician in Portsmouth, VA with Pensacola Naval Regional Medical Center at my first real duty station.
After three years I volunteered for Feild Medical School and subsequently was station with the Second Medical Battalion, Second Force Service Support Group in Camp Lejeune, NC. During this assignment I was reassigned to Marine ...Expand for more
Corp Base Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit and was injured with two Marine in an Explosives accident.
After recovering from the accident I volunteered again to teach Pharmacy Technician School in Portsmouth, VA. This too being a three year assignment and a challenge to say the least. I was glad to leave and get assigned to the USS Tortuga, LSD-46 out of Little Creek, VA. Finally getting to see the world I have been to Northern Europe, Mediterranean and the Carribbean.
My next assignmet was four years at Camp Lejeune, NC Pharmacy. Working primarily in the outpatient dispensing section and at branch Clinics.
I then was assigned 18 months at the Naval Hospital in Keflavik Iceland. This was an unaccompanied assignment leaving my family in Camp Lejeune. It was here where I earned my Anchors as a Chief Petty Officer.
After Iceland I went back to Camp Lejeune as the Chief of Pharmacy managing five branch clinics, one inpatient and two outpatient pharmacies filling a total of 770,000 prescriptions annually. During this assignment I was sent to Cuba to babysit the Al Qeada and Taliban who were guests of the United States.
After returning from Cuba I was assigned to a department head position. I received my evaluation of the previous years work and realized then that the Navy had definitely change from good to bad, and changed from a great institution to a good-ol-boy geopolitcal fascist sewer. All thanks to particular person (hmcm L.B.) thanks for the shaft. With this in mind decided to retire, July 31, 2003 with 21 years 2 months 12 days service.
