Three generations attending local schools. Involved in our community for more than 30 years in a variety of areas including the City of Bartlesville, Boy Scouts of America and his church. Copeland is a long-time resident of Bartlesville, living in the city almost continuously since 1963. He and Donna, his wife of 51 years, their sons and grandsons have all attended Bartlesville schools while being involved in many of the community's activities and groups. Dale and his wife, Donna, owned Copeland Appliance Center, founded in 1970 by Dale's father, Bill. Copeland Appliance began in a small storefront in Dewey, expanded to larger quarters in Dewey in 1972, then purchased the Fullhart Furniture and Appliance Company in Bartlesville in November 1973. Copeland's operated from the Fullhart location at 120 W. Frank Phillips in downtown Bartlesville for almost 30 years. In January 2003 the business relocated to a larger site at 3810 S. E. Adams Road. August 1st, 2020 marked the 50th anniversary of Copeland Appliance. Dale has been there for 49 of those years, involved in day to day business operations. Copeland says, I have proudly invested in our community with my years of civic involvement in business and nonprofits. My passion for Bartlesville runs deep, and I truly love the time I invest in our community. I believe we have our best years ahead as we carefully assess where we are and map where we can go together. He lists some of these community activities as, Founding member - Downtown Saturday Farmers Market. Founding member - Downtown Bartlesville Merchant Association. Boy Scouts of America Leader (various positions for more than 20 years): Scoutmaster, Exploring Advisor...Expand for more
, District Membership Chairman, Council Executive Committee as a Vice President of Program, Marketing and Properties, then as Council Commissioner and (now) Council President; National and World Jamboree volunteer; National staff and program coordinator for advanced youth leadership training courses. Both of his sons and two grandsons are Eagle Scouts. Trinity Baptist Church: Including Treasurer, Sunday School teacher, Deacon and Youth Group Leader. In business Dale Copeland served as the appliance committee chairman of Key America Southwest (now a part of the Nationwide buying group, the largest retail buying group in America) whose members accounted for more than $100 million in purchases. He was honored as 1997 Member of the Year by that group. Copeland notes three focus areas in his election run for Bartlesville City Council in 2011: Core services, financial health and civility. He says, For our community to prosper we must maintain the fundamental infrastructure needs of our citizens. These include adequate fire and police protection, streets, water, trash and sewer services. A careful blend of manpower, technology and processes can open up new efficiencies for us. Copeland believes that, In times of uncertainty a vigilant attention to operating and enterprise funds is essential. It's a critical balance to provide necessary services while practicing exceptional stewardship of funds. I endorse rebuilding our somewhat depleted operating reserve fund that has allowed us the needed cushion in the recent revenue shortfalls. Beyond services and financial stewardship Copeland emphasizes civility. There is a proverb, 'Civility costs nothing." Respectful, open communications are important in any group effort. I support the constructive input and involvement of any and all the members of our community, says Copeland. Five decades in business, an active leadership role in community groups and his church all contribute to deep roots in the Bartlesville community and provide Copeland with a breadth and depth of experience to qualify for this position as Ward 5 (now Ward 1) representative. Copeland says, Bartlesville has much to offer and we should work to not only support it, but promote it so that others may see the benefits of locating here. Let's tackle this together.
