Dalton's Story
Life
Graduated from Howard Payne University in 1969, entered Naval OCS in Newport, Rhode Island, that August; finished in December and got married; after that attended Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, Georgia. Assigned to guided missile destroyer for two years, then to Naval Air Station, Kingsville, TX for two more years. While in Kingsville, attended Texas A&I University for my M.B.A. (1975), then attended Texas Tech for my Ph.D. Taught at Louisiana Tech Univ. from 1979 to 1985, then moved to Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where I retired in 2006. and served as Department Chair of Economics and Finance, Associate Dean of the business school, Dean, and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. I then moved to Northeastern State University in Oklahoma, where I served as Vice President for Academic Affairs for three years, then returned to full-time teaching where I'll be for the next couple of years (until vested in OK retirement system). I have four children, all of whom have finished college and are well into their careers. I retired from the Naval Reserve in 1995 after almost 26 years, having attained the rank of Captain.
