Dan Owens:  

I attended Rhema Bible Training Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma right after High School. Got married there and Samuel was born in Tulsa in 1984. We moved to San Diego in 1985. Earlier, my father's company transferred him from West Virginia to California so that seemed the best place for us to move after bible school. I Didn't end up as a minister and needed to provide for my family so I went to college in California. I liked science and biology and ended up with a B.S. in Molecular Biology from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). I worked for The Scripp's Research Institute and a couple of biotech companies over a period of about 9 years. An old roommate from college started law school while I worked at The Scripps Research Institute and it seemed interesting. Science can get repetitive and a lot of times you perform experiments alone. There was a certain narrative in each case I studied that I enjoyed and the background of the law applied made it more interesting. I continued working in biotech as I went to law school at the University of San Diego School of Law and graduated in 1999. I got lucky and landed a temp position as a legal researcher at a small biotech company called Agouron that had just been acquired by Warner Lambert.
