Dan's Story

There are many people in my past that have touched me in many ways. I am greatful to many of those people and think of them often, wishing them the best that life has to offer. It seems I got a request for more info here so let me give it a shot.... My life changes a lot. Every five years I look back and can't imagine how I got where I am. I am lucky to have financial freedom to do what I want, but I still work hard to keep that from changing. I still long for the simplier times when I lived in the country, raised a few animals and worked hard. I try to live modestly, but occasionally splurge. Mostly, I like to keep things simple. I have had many ups and down. I lean toward being morally good and just and that is very important to me, but I am not perfect and have made many mistakes. I just learn from them and press on. My philosophy is that it is okay to do whatever you want to pursue happiness as long as your not infringing on others and their pursuit of happiness. My religion is Christian, always has been. My political views are Conservative. As a small child, my parents hung a copy of The Consitution of the United States on the wall of my room and I guess some of it just stuck. But you know what they say, "If you are not a liberal when you are in your 20's you have no heart, and if you are not...Expand for more
conservative by the time you are in your 40's you have no brain." I have many interests and try out new hobbies all the time. Being in Hawaii I have been able to explore some I couldn't on the mainland and that has been nice. But there is still a lot I want to experience before I leave here. I like to get out and do things, but I read all the time too. Not much fiction though. I read mostly educational books, a lot of science, but evironmental, history, and political books as well. As for science I love physics. It's not very useful in everyday life however, so I consider that a luxury, and try to mix it up with things I can acutal use. There are charities I support and others I am interested in supporting. Such as the Disabled American Veteran Association and Food for the Poor programs. With domestic violence on the rise, I am interested in learning more about organizations that help support victims. The old saying, "Beat your wife daily. If you don't know why, she does," kinda goes against my philosophy of pusuing happiness while not infringing on others pursuits of happiness. Well that is a brief summary. I appreciate the inquiry and will happily add things I forgot to mention later. And to all my fellow babyboomers out there...have fun and live large...our kids are paying for it. ;) Cheers
