Life My life after high school has taken many different turns, I seem to get bored pretty easily. After graduation, I started college, hated it and quit. Then I went to a technical school and became a Surgical Tech. I worked about a year assisting surgeons in the operating room, saw a lot of interesting things, then decided to go back to college. My son Dylan Scott was born in July of 1999, that was absolutely the best thing that had ever happened to me. I continued going to college during my pregnancy and after he was born. I did three years at Southwest Texas working on a Bachelor's in Hosptial Administration. After 9/11 happened, I knew that I wanted to do something where I could make a difference, so in January of 2002 I joined the Army as a combat medic. After my training was completed I was prepared to go anywhere, knowing that leaving my son would be that hardest thing I would ever have to do. Luckily that day never came. I got orders to stay in San Antonio and work at Brooke Army Medical Center. I did three years in the Army, one of which I spent working in the Emergency Room and Trauma Center in one of the largest trauma centers in the nation, I got out in April 2005. I never had the oportunity to go overseas to save lives on the battlefield, but being a mom, I was glad that I got to stay close to home and my son. During my years in the Army I was married to a soldier, an infantry medic. He went to Iraq for one year and came back a different person. He never would talk about anything and I didn't push it. It was hard because he was stationed in Kentucky and I was in Texas. We tried to see eachother about once every month or so, but I never felt that he wanted the relationship anymore.
