After High School, I learned computer programming at what was then known as Concord Commercial College. Once completing those courses, the enlisted in the USAF in 1969 and learned Airborne Early Warning Radar with assignments at McCellan AFB in Sacramento, California and at McCoy AFB in Orlando, Florida.I began work in the aerospace industry, starting in 1975 with Philco-Ford, Ford Aerospace, then Loral, Lockheed Martin, TRW and ending with Northrop Grumman. I initially worked at the New Boston Satellite Tracking Station then went to the Seychelles' Indian Ocean Tracking Station where I married Mona Mein in 1980. While there, I supported the first flight of the Columbia Space Shuttle. I next worked at the Vandenberg Tracking Station where I supervised the Operations Department, I had a temporary classified assignment to Cyprus at the Royal Air Force Akrotiri Base which coincided with the first Gulf War so that it was a year before I returned to Vandenberg ST where I became the Launch Vehicle Director with the responsibility of ensuring that our track...Expand for more
