Daniel's Story

I'm here just checking out if I can catch up with some old friends. If you remember me, give me a shout! Today, I live near Seattle Washington. I am an Senior IT Consultant transitioning into a Practice Management position. My engagements for the last 3 years have included working at Microsoft and T-Mobile. My work sounds way nerdier than what it really is. Me, I'm still that laid back, easy going guy, who loves basketball and still has a love relationship with hip hop. I've been married since 2001 but still do not have any children, unless you count my dogs, Logan and Porkchop. My wife, Marisela, and I decided to wait on children until we finished Master degrees. I wrapped up my MBA in 2005 and she finishes hers this year (2008). dum, dum, dum (kids)! yikes.. lol Anyways, so how'd I get here, where might we have crossed paths? I spent my grade school years at St. Hyacinth. I still keep in contact with Robert Jamrog and Juan Torres. In fact, us three jokers did a trip to Europe a couple of years ago...we hit up London and ahem ... Amsterdam. It was a blast! After grade school I did a semester of my freshman year of high school at Cathedral High in downtown Chicago. My folks decided to move out of the city so we moved to Gurnee, IL. I completed my high school years at Warren Township High. Damn, those were fun times! If anyone has seen Jaime Marienau, please, please send me his info. That was my main homie in high school and I cannot find him. I had some interesting jobs in high school...worked at Ace Hardware, Wal-mart, Mc Donalds, and Six Flags Great America. I started my college journey at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. I spent two years probably partying a little too hard. I majored in Electrical Engineering but realized it wasn't for me (especially after I almost flunked out). I changed my major to Computer Science and found my niche. I made some boys at NU for life! What up to Elvis, Kilo, Ted, Rienzi, Jose, Camilo, and Antonio Godfrey. Damn, I have slipped up and have lost contact w/ Camilo and Antonio. Yo Tonio, if y...Expand for more
ou read this, holla at a brother, it's been a long time. So my grades helped me lose scholarship money so I transferred back home to University of Illinois at Chicago. UIC, what can I say...that school tried to f' me every chance it got. I did decent in school there but always had some dumb drama with the school itself. Anyways, I got my Chi-Town crew together there...Wassup to the Associates! Professionally, I started to gain my swagger while at UIC. I worked at the Boston Consulting Group (good looking out Los) and Lucent Technologies (good looking out Mobs). Then it happened, the move that would change my life. I haven't mentioned it but I was always in this hispanic engineering group (SHPE) throughout college. Through SHPE, I got an opportunity to go out to Silicon Valley in California and intern at Hewlett Packard. Cali in the summer while making some fat cash, hells yeah! So I go to Cali for the summer w/ no expectations other than to have a blast and build up my resume. Well, I met Marisela that summer. She too was an intern at HP. We just clicked and I decided that Cali was my move. I was unhappy with UIC so I said f' it and picked up my dirty clothes and moved myself out to Cali. I transferred to California State University - Chico State and finished up my Computer Science degree. After graduating, I took a full time job at HP. Marisela graduated in 2001 and got a full time job at Microsoft. I was able to transfer internally at HP so we got married and moved to Seattle. Since I have been in Seattle, I moved jobs a couple of times until I decided that I didn't want to be a full time employee anymore but instead a consultant. So now I get paid way more than I ever dreamed of and all I do is manage people and projects. I don't really even do any programming anymore. So blamo! There was a very condensed version of my life story. Have we crossed paths? If so, drop me a line, I always wonder what happened to folks in my life. haha, sorry to anyone I left out of my story...if you really know me, you know I got'cha in my thoughts.
