Daniel's Story
Life
After HS I worked for a year to save money for college. It was a long year. David Evyns ( for some reason I think he spelled it that way..D. David) was in many ways my inspiration. I learned much from him...thinking and motivation, always asking me the hard questions. He once said "Every good deed anyone does, is done for selfish reasons...you'll never be able to prove that wrong." Well, he is right but I am still working on it. I understand it now though. Selfish doesn't mean bad, it just means that you benefit too!!
After HS I spent the next 5 years in Rhode Island working on a dual degree in Social and Health Services and Psychology. After graduation, I was off to Yale and the Physician Associate department. Yale was great! Interesting, exciting and painfully overwhelming at times but I graduated in 1989 and started practice in Emergency Medicine. Working and teaching at Yale filled a lot of my time and from time to time I would take courses to keep me fresh ( David Evyn influence). In 2003 I graduated from the Universit...Expand for more
y of Nebraska College of Medicine with a degree specialization in Emergency Medcine. During that time and with some friends we began medical mission work and did a mission to the Philippines. We founded One World Medicine and began doing other work, sending medicine when we could not go on a mission because of our own schedules. Not wanting the grass to grow under my feet, I began another degree and graduated from Nova Southeastern University with the Doctor of Health Science. I thought I wouldn't go for the academic doctorate because I didn't want to write that much but I am DONE!!! No more School!!!! D. David Evyns, Wardell O'Connor and Murray Bosniak ( who wrote abysmal on one of my evaluations) motivated me.
Now, I am in the practice of Internal Medicine at Yale, teach a bit and doing some online teaching. I am an active Yale alumn ( they never let you go ;)) I live in East Haddam, Connecticut with my Partner,my Saint Bernard and a host of other animals on our little farm " Blue Onion Farm" in a Geodesic Home...Life is Good
