DANIEL's Story
After high school, I went to "Out Here College" (NMC) til '66. I spent a semester at Howard University in Washington DC and ended up graduating from Eastern Michigan University.
I married my high school girlfriend (Carolyn Klotzbach) in '67.
I worked at draft-deferrable jobs from '68 to '71 in the Cleveland, Ohio area.
When no longer subject to the draft, I moved to Boulder CO for grad school. I started out in philosophy and ended up with a Master's in Public Adminstration in '76.
Carolyn and I divorced in '77,after we discovered that getting our educations (hers was a JD) was what held our marriage together.

itions in Colorado State Government, including working for the State Legislature where, in 1980, I met colleague Kay Meyer.
Kay and I married in 1983 and had our only child, Alyson, at the end of that year.
We retired in 2002 and live in eastern Boulder County, a few miles from our daughter and her family.
Since retrement I have been involved in Democratic Party politics, working on campaigns and, for four years, County Party Chair.
I am a huge fan of University of Colorado athletics, especially football.
I am in pretty good health (knock on wood) but had knee replacement surgery in January '24 to repair a 32-year-old skiing accident.
