Daniel's Story
Hell man, we're old+, so telling you what I've been up to would take more
space. Grew up, went to college, worked the last 44 years for Uncle Sam in DoD.
Still love dirt bikes, surf boards, and ski boats. That will never change.
Still keep in touch with my buddies Bob Pereira, (also class of 72
Lakewood), and beautiful Marsha Licitra (formerly Swenson, Class of 70).
I have a beautiful wife (married in '80), four sons, Brandon, Darren, Tim , & Luke (& 6 grand kids). All great guys that I'm very proud of. They're all big on dirtbikes too, some how...
I've had a LOT of injuries. Most from crashing dirtbikes and snow skiing. I
had a detached retina on my right eye. Needed a scleral buckle surgery to
reattach it. Broken wrists, & carpel tunnel release surgeries. My right
shoulder keeps going out of whack. I keep needing to have a surgery called
sub-acromial decompression. The bone on top of my shoulder keeps growing down into the socket, pinching off the nerves and shredding up the muscles and tendons. Every 5-10 years or so. My right hip has been replaced 4 times, and my left once. Total hip replacements suck. Just ask your grandparents...

ident in '97. I've had tons of stuff done to try and help. Including 3 neck surgeries, cervical fusion at levels C2-T2 with stainless steel plates screwed onto the front of my spine.
To be honest, the only thing I still really complain about (the most) is the neck stuff. (I didn't do that one to myself.)
Enough about me.
The rest of ya all having any fun?
I've had a blast. On and off the job. Working at Naval Surface Warfare
Center, Port Hueneme Division has been incredible. After working 10 years at Long Beach Naval Ship Yard following graduation at Lakewood, I took a Program Engineer/Manager job and work on combat systems and guided missile launchers. That's what my training and education is focused mostly on. I travelled all over the world, most years around half of the time.
I came back to my 'faith life', so to say, about the time we started having
kids. God never left, I just had missed seeing Him for a while. My wife has been an angel and a strong mother. If you have had half of the fun and half of the fulfillment I have felt, with growing up, or raising a family, I know you are also blessed.
Hope to hear from classmates of the near years.
Sincerely, Dan Holley '72
