Daniel's Story
I graduated in '75. I joined the Air Force after graduation and stayed in for 10 years. During that time I married twice and had 4 kids. I was assigned to Abilene, Tx for 7 years then Okinawa, Japan for 3 more. After that I went back to Arcata then Redding for 12 more years. At that time I married my third wife and had no more kids. I got a Bachelor's Degree there then left Redding in 1997 and moved to Placerville to manage apartments. I joined the Army National Guard there. I divorced my third wife and married my fourth. We moved to the Austin, TX area in 2008 and I divorced her there. I retired from the Army Guard with 22 total years of service and still live here in Cedar Park, TX. w have 8 grandkids. It's very hot out here in Texas and I think I would like to go back to Eureka to settle into retirement. My father is ailing in Rio Del and my mother is aging in Crescent City so I'd like to be around them. Besides, I miss the redwoods and the "hippie" environment and the ocean. Those smells-- the pulp mill, the creosote from the mills, the damp air and the sound of foghorns and buoy bells! None of that here!
I always wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a okay idea. As it turns out, they were dead wrong.
I like to read and I've written a few short stories that I try to get published. Not much success.
My hero has been my God since 1979 when I became a God-fearing man.
