Dan's Story
I believe I graduated from Myrtle Street Public School in 1969 . Ralph Snowsell was the principal at that time. I recall having Beatrice Pineo and Barry
Whiteman as teachers.
I attended highschool at Parkside Collegiate in St. Thomas. I later went to University of
Western Ontario in London and finished a Bachelor of Arts degree. I also did the
Diesel Engine Technician program at Fanshawe College in London Ontario.
I was employed with International Truck/ Navistar Corporation for about a dozen years in management. I was eventually transferred to a job in Texas where I met my wife
Karen. Best thing that ever happened to me!
Karen & I returned to live in St. Thomas for about six years, but have now moved
back to the United States. We live in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
I work for a large US Oil Petroleum Service Company called Baker Hughes in Vehicle Maintenance. I spend most
of my time in North Dakota's "Bakken Oil Fields".
Very sad how this Worldwide Economic Recession has hurt St. Thomas. All the railways, and most of the
Manufacturing Plants closing have left the city devas...Expand for more

Does anyone recall walking to the YMCA for swimming classes? We use to walk
as a group up Ross Street. Seems like a long time ago now! Life seemed so much less complicated back then.
I always wanted to be a pilot when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a wierd idea. As it turns out, they were right. I did get my Private Pilot's Licence at
Hicks & Lawrence Flying School at the St. Thomas airport.
Technically interesting learning to fly a aircraft, and the navigation involved use of some mathmatical skills. I
have not flown an airplane since living in Texas. I use to rent a plane on the weekend at Mesquite Airport outside
of Dallas, Texas.
