Daniella's Story
I married John Miller (North Haven class of '86) in 1996. I kept my maiden name... (John was cool with that.) We met at Southern Connecticut State University in 1989 but didn't get together until after we graduated from College. We have two kids, Samantha Alexandra, born Jan. 2000 and Jesse McLean, born Sept. 1995. We live in Illinois, which was never really our plan, but we love it. We do miss our families, the ocean, fresh seafood and good pizza, but we get back to CT as much as possible to enjoy all that good stuff. John and I are both college professors at Illinois State University. He teaches glassblowing and sculpture and is a professional artist. (He's awesome, actually!) His job is more fun than mine, I have to admit. I am in art education, training future art educators and classroom teachers to teach...Expand for more
art to children. I also do research in art education and give presentations at academic conferences. I do love my job, (most of the time!)
: ) I got my master's and doctorate at the University of Illinois (Yes, you have to call me Dr. Barroqueiro!) Don't look so surprised, I was always smart, just distracted most of the time...) My kids are great, if I do say so myself. Sammy is a better student than I ever was, reading everything she can get her hands on, and she has a talent for playing piano too. Sammy is an angel at school (She saves all of her whining and drama for home!) Jesse is like his dad, a motorcycle enthusiast/wildman, plays hard, and adores his family. Jesse is a music-guy, loves a wide range of music from "Psycho-Billy Freakout" to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"- very eclectic, don'tcha think?
