Danielle's Story

Life My name is Danielle Cermak. I attended Henry Ford II high school from 1991-1995. I had a group of friends, but I really didn't hang out with a particular group. I tended to drift between the two fringe groups of the AP kids and the burnouts. I had a thing for bad boys while I was in high school. (Does the name Jon Kovach ring any bells?) I graduated from high school Magna Cum Laude. After high school, I was accepted to University of Detroit Mercy on a full tuition, partial room and board scholarship for academics. In college, I tried to get involved with everything. I was in the Leadership Development Institute, became a member of THE sorority on campus Kappa Beta Gamma (I was the charity chairperson), was chairperson of Las Vegas night for four years, secretary of the Student Senate, and director of the Academic Resource Center. To say I was busy is the understatement of the century, but I loved it. I was the go to girl...the person you went to if you needed to know who/how/or where on campus. College was awesome. I took five years to get my bachelor of science in biochemistry. You may ask...why five years? I took a year off between my junior and senior year to work out in Colorado. I supervised 5 chemical engineering students from the Univ. of Colorado Boulder in doing validation tests at one of the largest pharmaceutical companies, Amgen, by day. In the afternoon/weekends, I was white water rafting, hiking, rock climbing, and horseback riding in the mountains. It ...Expand for more
was quite the life. I graduated from college in 2000 and was actually a finalist for validictorian of the class of 2000. I won numerous awards while in college, and was picked to receive a Health Professions Scholarship by the United States Air Force to study medicine. I went to medical school at Michigan State University and graduated in 2004. After graduation, my first assignment was to come to Andrews Air Force Base in Washington D.C. and complete my residency in family practice. That's where I am currently...I just finished my intership year and I am now an upper level resident. I've completed all my board exams, and I'm in the process of applying for my state liscensure in Virginia. I'm loving my life right now. I have good friends and a good job. The only thing that's a little challenging is dating since I work 60-80 hours a week. Don't get me wrong. I date (alot!), but it seems like I can never find someone who is as driven/adventurous/and fun as I like to be. Maybe I just get bored easily...I don't know. Anyways, currently I live in Alexandria, VA in a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment. I have close to no debt from medical school and live a pretty awesome lifestyle. My official title is Captain Doctor Danielle Cermak, USAF, Medical Corp. If you're ever in my neck of the woods and feel like reminsing about Ford, send me a message through classmates. Maybe we can get together and have a few drinks in the evening after I'm done with my clinic. Take care. Danielle
