Danielle's Story
I can't wait for the Reunion Cruise! WHoo Hoo! Any excuse to get away from work and home right now. What I really need is a cruise around the world? Next reunion maybe?
Nothing new here to report - just work, work and work and once in a while play with the kitties and clean the house. Boring life I live. 8/5/2009
Well into April 09 - Sad, Rex is going to North Dakota again for about a month. Only good thing is that I am busy while he is gone. I have workshop, behind at work, behind in socialization according to Liz who I finally had coffee with after a month.
Going to try to get back into the swing of things and hit the gym at least twice a week and walk the lake once or twice a week since the weather is nice.
Seeing many old faces on facebook! It is so great to reconnect with everyone.
I left San Berdoo and never thought I would see/hear from anyone again. I saw a few faces at UCSB (Jennifer Hatton and Jeff Ledbetter). Then lives crossed with Sylvia Voros years later, and ironically our spouse/BF were in the same industry and same lousey schedules so we had a lot in common again (7 days on / 7days off shifts in the oil fields). Several people still look exactly the same - scary! I wish I was skinny and young looking, even though I was never skinny in high school.
The latest plans for trips? Redding to see family again. Maybe down to LA and OC to see family in May/June. Planning to move out of apartment in July/August but don't know where too yet. We still can't afford a down payment on a house _ spending it all on rent which sucks! I feel like I keep getting nowhere with a down payment. At least getting into a larger 2 or 3 bedroom apt will help us, we are cramped and on top of each other and fighting over the computer = which Rex needs all the time for school. School starts in May again for him. Which means I put on my nagging cap again, nag him to study and get his work done, like a mother.
Wow January 2009 is almost gone!
All the holidays were uneventful here -
except for our new cat that almost died! Stayed home to care for him.
S'mores the snowshoe (AKA heathen cat beast) is Rex's family cat that we took in or he was headed for the pound
due to his behavior issues. UC Davis says he has the most aggressive cat behavior they have encountered ... ah only my child. He is walking the line on death row since he bit me in the face! Rex is in No Dak again (he likes that -50 weather) and S'mores and I are bonding and he is learning to behave like a proper cat. Dani's cat boot camp.
Face book has put a lot of us in touch these past few months! Even my sister Terri has gotten into it! She may have a doctorate degree, but cell phones and computers can still get the best of her! Look forward to talking to many more people and the cruise in Sept.
August 2008
Rex and I are fabulous! Totally in love. We
spent a week in Yosemite with the family and all
survived. No one pushed anyone off the cliffs.
We had a fabulous time but were exhaused when we all got home.
I have put up some pictures of us there.
Rex is gone for the entire month of August and I am
lonely :(
Thinking about the reunion cruise - I have never been on...Expand for more
one and this will be a good time to try one, very close to home and short. Just a little sample.
April 26, 2008 update:
Life is good! Love that t-shirt.
Rex and I are doing fabulous, reminds me of dating in high school when you still call each other "pet" names. We title our emails to each other after songs. It is kinda sick! But I love it and I love him so much. I feel like I have (not so) patiently waited 40 years to find my soulmate. I had to date all the
bad ones first to find the perfect one.
Rex is moving out here to California this summer.
He applied for Comm College for now to establish residency, then will enroll at the Univ. and say
good bye to U of North Dakota and the blizzards and -50 temperatures! Stanford is out due to money
unless anyone here wants to donate $50K to a
good charity (me!) so San Jose State will have to do.
Rex is a business major wanting to do corporate real estate type stuff.... don't ask me I work with puppies and kitties all day. Opposites do attract! Rex is great, he loves my two cats and vice versa. Ladies, a guy that knows and uses the cats nicknames the first time they all meet is a keeper! Last BF used to say he love my cats, with soy sauce. They were lunch and dinner. He did that just to make me mad.
Men!?!?!
This summer holds lots of events: at least one more baby shower; a big BBQ and of course our Yosemite trip this summer with the entire family gathered. This is will be a first for many of our family since there are so many new additions, all who have never been to Yosemite before. Terri and I would love to show them all our secret places of intrest up there - several of which are not so secret anymore
thanks to time and commercializm of the park. We still hold a few cards in the deck from our summers spent up there.
Life
January 2008! Wow! I feel old writing that date.
2007 in review: Had a really rough year at work until a co-worker got fired and two others quit. Life is good now.
Had some fun events to attend: BBQ's, baby showers, parties, anniversaries and of course the Holidays.
This years Christmas was not the best. I had to spend it without my Mother. Mom passed away on Dec 5th. This was not expected either. Planning a summer trip to scatter mom's ashes with the entire family.
On a better note, I have a new love intrest! :) And so
far we get along fabulously!
Still have 2 kitties ( Nigel passed away in Feb.) Fiona and Malibu.
Workplace
Did my stint working retail clothing for about 2 years. Boring! Then just under a year at UCSB music department - working in the office. This was kinda cool, got to meet lots of neet people including Kenny Loggins.
I am working on my 16th year at Veterinary Orthopedic & Surgery Service. I am the office manager for this practice as well as the office manager for the doctor's company that manages our 5 practice specialty group. This can be a little nerve wracking at times! I love working with two great doctors and a very knowledgable staff (albeit a little wild!)I love working with the animals and returning them to their owners all fixed back up! Unfortunately in our line of work, you don't just close up shop at 6:00pm
