Dan's Story
College
Attend University of Maryland, College Park for one semester (fall 1972), ran out of money, and joined the Army to get the G.I. Bill. Went to University of Maryland, Eastern Shore from August 1976 until December 1978, earning a B.S. in Business Administration, Summa Cum Laude. Immediately into the working world in Silicon Valley, and it took me 20 years to finally go after my Master's, which I did in Singapore, earning an M.S. (Honors) in Strategic Marketing from the National University of Ireland in April, 1999.
Workplace
After graduating from UMES, I moved to Silicon Valley in December 1978, and began working as a Sales Administrator for Measurex Corporation, until April, 1980 when I joined Siltec as Western Region Sales Manager.
I stayed at Siltec until November, 1986. While at Siltec (later Cybeq Systems) I was also OEM Marketing Manager and Marketing Manager, Automation Systems.

otics start-up, Ultracision, Inc., as V.P, Sales and Marketing and later became Executive Vice President.
In August 1995, I joined Electroglas, Inc. as Director of Asia Support, and became Vice President of Asia-Pacific Operations in January 1996. I served as VP, US Customer Operations from mid-1998 until mid-2001, when I returned to Asia. I lived in Singapore until leaving Electroglas and joining MKS/Ion Systems in May 2005, when I relocated to BangBo, just outside Bangkok, Thailand.
Military
Basic training at Ft. Dix, NJ August-October 1973. Went to FSI in Rosslyn, VA to study Khmer for most of 1974 (47 weeks). Voice intercept operator training at Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, TX.
Became 98G and stationed at 7th RRFS, Ramasun, Non Sung, Thailand from December 1974 until we were kicked out by the Thai government in March 1976. Idled away the last 5 months as maintenance sergeant at Ft. Lewis, Washington until release in August 76.
