Danny's Story
Life as of April 2009.
I'm currently working as a "travel nurse", working 13 week assignments at in the city of my choice. I just left Austin again (my favorite city) for at least a few months. I¿m on a contract to a brand-new hospital in Stafford, Virginia, just south of D.C. After that, who knows? My company has contracts in every state and also in the American Virgin Islands and I've been considering taking one there.
I've worked as a nurse in California, Arizona, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Texas, Maryland, North Carolina, and New Jersey. I can usually stay any place as long as I want or leave after 13 weeks, no hard feelings.
I have two boys, Alex - age 23 and Max - age 18. Both great kids, free spirits like their parents. Alex is essentially a hippie, living with Aymie, his partner in a glass-blowing shop. Max lives with his mom as she tends to stay in one place more than I do. He's a chronic high school student who ...Expand for more
sings, plays the keyboard, writes poetry and has been doing theater in Kerrville, recently playing the part of Willy Wonka in the play by the same name.
My wife of 22 years, Sharon (yea, we met and dated some in high school), and I are currently separated. We are both nurses and mostly live as if single. We are best friends and talk on the phone or text each other most days even when we¿re working at opposite ends of the country. We spend a lot of time together when we are in the same city and tend to spend a week or so visiting each other during distant assignments.
We are both a long way from growing up, enjoying going out a few times a week to dance clubs, parties, poetry events, live music, all kinds of stuff. Neither of us watches TV much but do spend a lot of time on the internet, getting our news and mail online. I don¿t even have a TV anymore, watching DVDs and streamed movies on my wide screen computer instead.
